National Leased Housing Association (NLHA) 2012 Mid Year Meeting: Examining Assisted Housing Funding and Preservation

(PRWEB) December 16, 2011

HUD Funding and Other Rental Program Issues Focus of the National Leased Housing Association (NLHA) Conference

The President has signed the FY12 HUD spending bill. For some programs the bill brings a sigh of relief, for others heartburn and for PHAs with reduced administrative fees – anxiety. Learn how the FY12 funding decisions will impact your operations and how the failure of the Super Committee could shape spending for housing in FY13 and beyond by joining fellow housing professionals for the NLHA Mid-Year Membership Meeting, January 25-27 in Indian Wells, CA.

Educational Workshops

As with every NLHA meeting, the attendees will receive the latest information on issues affecting development, preservation, asset management and voucher administration. Industry experts and HUD staff will examine recent program changes, policy revisions and best practices for housing agencies, developers, owners, managers and lenders. HUD’s plans to cut costs by offsetting HAP funding by using residual receipts; benchmarking of rent comp studies and other initiatives will also be examined.

Voucher administrators will receive updates on program funding, including the status of administrative fees and how PHAs are doing more with less. Agencies will also examine how to increase proficiency with VMS; whether automated telephone systems are the way to go; where HUD is going with SEMAP and HQS changes; how the smaller FMR areas could impact the program and; why Congress is focused on “self-sufficiency” efforts including expanding MTW. Best practices on landlord recruitment, education and retention will also be offered.

You may have not intended to do so, but I think you have managed to express the state of mind that a lot of people are in. The sense of wanting to help, but not knowing how or where, is something a lot of us are going through.
